High Barbell Bench Crunches
Technique - If you a using a decline abs bench you will need to use a second weight bench to raise it's height before starting. Sit down on the abs bench and hook your feet into the leg supports. At this point it will be easier if someone can hand you the barbell. Grip the barbell with your arms vertical above your head. Grip the barbell in a wide grip position with your palms facing forwards. Keep your arms strong and solid throughout the exercise. Inhale as you lower your upper body down backwards in a slow, controlled manner keeping your arms and back straight. Stop when your shoulder blades are brushing the bench but do not lay down. Exhale as you raise your upper body back to the starting position again keeping your arms straight. lean forwards at the top of the motion squeezing your abs muscles in. Do not allow any longer than a 1 count before starting the next rep.
