Smith Machine Barbell Sit Ups Technique Instructions

Smith Machine Barbell Sit Ups
Technique - Start by lowering the bar of the smith machine all the way down to the floor. Sit down on the floor in front of the bar. Make sure that you are in the center of the bar. Next hook your feet behind the bar and sit back. Slide you butt back until your legs are in a near straight position. Allow a small break in your knee but keep your legs strong and solid throughout the exercise. You can use any bar your choose, for the sake of simplicity we used a tricep bar as it is easy to grip behind the head. Place the barbell behind your head and sit tall keeping your back straight and start the exercise when ready. Inhale as you lower your upper body down slowly backwards keeping your legs solid allowing your abs to take the strain. Do not allow your back or the bar to touch the floor. Exhale as you sit back up making sure that you do not pull at your feet to perform the exercise as this will maintain pressure on the abs muscles and increase the overall benefits of the exercise. Repeat for the desired number of reps.
