Smith Machine Chest Plate Sit Ups Technique Instructions

Smith Machine Chest Plate Sit Ups
Technique - Start by twisting the bar to remove it from the supports and lower it all the way down to the floor. Sit down on the floor in front of the bar and position yourself in the center of the bar. Hook your feet underneath the bar shoulder width apart and slide your butt back along the floor. Make sure that their is a slight break in your legs and maintain this position throughout the exercise. Next pick up the plate weight and place it across your chest crossing your arms over the top to hold it in position. Sit tall keeping your back straight and start the exercise when ready. Inhale as you lower your upper body down backwards in a slow, controlled manner. Do not allow your back to come into contact with the floor. Exhale as you sit back up into the starting position again keeping your back straight allowing your abs to do all the work. Do not use your feet to pull yourself up as this will maintain pressure on the abs muscles and increase the overall benefits of the exercise.
