Smith Machine High Barbell Sit Ups Technique Instructions

Smith Machine High Barbell Sit Ups
Technique - Start by twisting the bar, remove it from the supports and lower it all the way down to the floor. Sit down on the floor in front of the bar and hook your feet underneath the bar. Position your feet shoulder width apart and slide back until your legs are near straight keeping a slight break in your knees. Maintain strong and solid legs throughout the exercise. It does not matter which bar you use for this exercise, we used a tricep bar as it has a comfortable grip position. Sit tall keeping your back straight and extend your arms up until straight. Inhale as you lower your upper down backwards in a slow, controlled manner. Keep your arm out straight at all times and do not allow your arms to fully lockout. Exhale as you sit back up into the starting position again keeping your arms straight. Do not use your feet to pull yourself as this will remove pressure from the abs muscles and decrease the overall benefits of the exercise. Repeat this technique for the desired number of reps.
